Alistair has recently returned from volunteering on a project ‘Hands with Hearts’ Foundation in Bali where he treated children with disabilities including blindness and cerebral palsy.
In Bali, ‘Hands with Hearts’ collaborates with four different centres located in Ubud, Canggu, Denpasar and Uluwatu. These centres are for children and young adults with physical disabilities (neurological disorders, anatomical malformations, severe traumas, etc.) and for children with special needs, primarily blind and with intellectual disability, and orphans (Denpasar and Uluwatu). They also provide home visits for patients in rural areas with limited access to healthcare.
‘Hand with Heart’ offer healthcare and wellbeing advice for children and young adults with disabilities, special needs and for those who are economically disadvantaged. By working with new professional modalities and incorporating them into a daily approach, their aim is to help the children reach their potential by developing a social sustainability programme as well as the skills to become self-reliant.
